Wisdom Teeth Removal Calgary SW

Wisdom teeth extractions in SW Calgary, including sedation options for anxious patients. Dr. Olsen and Dr. Boutin perform extractions in a comfortable, modern clinic.

Wisdom Teeth Removal at Crestmont Dental

Most people don’t have enough room in their jaw for wisdom teeth (third molars) to erupt properly. When they become impacted — stuck below the gumline or angled against adjacent teeth — they can cause pain, crowding, infection, and damage to neighbouring teeth.

The good news: we offer wisdom tooth extractions right here at Crestmont Dental, including sedation options for patients who are anxious about the procedure.

Do I Need My Wisdom Teeth Removed?

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out. We’ll take digital X-rays and assess whether your wisdom teeth are:

  • Fully erupted and easy to clean (may be fine to monitor)
  • Partially erupted and prone to infection (pericoronitis)
  • Impacted and pressing against adjacent teeth
  • Causing crowding or shifting of other teeth

We’ll only recommend extraction when it’s genuinely necessary — not as a precaution.

Sedation for Wisdom Tooth Extractions

Wisdom tooth removal is one of the most common procedures we perform under sedation. If the idea of the procedure makes you anxious, oral sedation or IV conscious sedation can make the entire experience far more manageable.

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is — and how quickly they recover.

Recovery

  • Day 1: Rest, ice the area in 20-minute intervals, take prescribed pain medication as directed
  • Days 2–3: Soft foods only (soup, yogurt, smoothies — no straws)
  • Day 7: Most patients are back to normal eating and activity
  • Follow-up: We’ll check in to ensure healing is progressing well
